As a long time Carlsbad resident, I make it a point twice a year to attend the Carlsbad Village Street Faire. This particular street fair is AWESOME! It's touted as "the world's largest one day street fair" and it is always a great way to spend a Sunday. It's only held once in the Spring and once in the Fall and I hear they bring busloads of people down from Orange County for this thing. Yeah...it's a BIG deal for Carlsbad Village by the Sea.
In past visits I have purchased some pretty awesome local art, cheap sunglasses, unusual and delicious food (like giant turkey legs and funnel cake), had some delicious local brew in the beer garden, and spent hours wandering the streets just browsing and people watching. It's always such a fun day.
Last Sunday was a tad different. There was this weird wet stuff that started falling from the sky in the form of little droplets and it didn't seem to ever let up. Yeah...it rained. It rained and rained...and so here is how our day went:
We parked, then made a B-line for the food court, stopping only to purchase a $10 Quiksilver sweatshirt from a vendor who I PROMISE you made the most money on Sunday. He was LOVING the rain and we joked about how Jason's new sweatshirt was really just for me anyway (I was freezing), so it didn't matter that it was a Medium and would probably shrink in the wash. Once we made it to the food court we bought a giant sausage sandwich, a Hawaiian chicken wrap, and two diet cokes. We found a wet place to sit down under a partially covered table. We ate as quickly as possible (shivering) and then ran back to our car and drove home in the rain. It was unlike any street fair I've ever attended. I was soaked!!!
